  34. I recently got my hands on a two-meter FM transciever, and now I would
  35. like to get into packet radio. I recently FTPed the schematics for a
  36. 'Baycom' modem from some odd FTP site, however they are in PostScript
  37. format, and I do not own a Postscript compatible printer. Does anybody
  38. know where you can find the schematics for this TNC in a format such as
  39. PCX, TIFF, etc.?

  55. I picked up one of those recordable greeting cards the other day... even got
  56. it free, since it was a Father's Day card they no longer could sell! Anyway,
  57. after playing with it (much fun) I decided that I could hook it up to a
  58. tiny FM transmitter and have a club event, using the card's circuit to 
  59. record a little message like "This is KD4UGI and you can't find me, hahaha!"
  60. and have a transmitter hunt. Anyway, what I need is just a basic FM
  61. transmitter circuit, hopefully one that can be built in a short
  62. time with basic equipment (read, soldering iron and wire cutters) and 
  63. (more importantly) and can be hooked up to the recording circuit. The
  64. chip sends its audio to a cheapo small speaker, so I'll need a way to 
  65. interface this output with the transmitter.

  67. Could a $10 Radio shack walkie-talkie (do they still make those things?)
  68. be easily converted to ~145 MHz, and could the power be increased slightly
  69. to provide roughly 1 or 2 watts (or a 3 mile range)?? How would I do this,
  70. and how much will it cost? Would I be better off starting from scratch?

  105. I'm looking for a reasonably priced copy of Radio Engineers Handbook
  106. by Terman, dated somewhere back in the WWII era.  (Please note the
  107. exact title; there are 3 other books by the same author with the word
  108. "radio" in the title.)  Forgive me if this is not the most appropriate
  109. place to post this request, but a) my Internet access is extremely
  110. limited and I can only read rec.radio and can only post to
  111. rec.radio.amateur (can't complain for only $5 a month) and b) I know
  112. for a fact there are a lot of sharp folks out there on this particular
  113. distro list and many of you have to have this book.  (Being willing to
